My Little Pony has been around for years, but the new 4th generation Friendship is Magic has exploded into an Internet meme. Whether you’re a brony or a pegasister, young or old, male or female – this cake should appeal to you. I was somewhat aware of the My Little Ponies Friendship Is Magic popularity from t-shirts I had seen at my kids’ school, but when a 20 something guy on Jeopardy chatted about being a brony in his intro, I was hooked. So, I decided to make this birthday cake in celebration of Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie and all the My Little Pony Characters, which I got at Toys R Us to decorate this cake. The rest of the cake is edible from a toffee colored chocolate rainbow water fall surrounded by blueberry cotton candy to the modeling chocolate sign ala the My Little Pony logo. The cake is one of my favorite recipes, Hershey’s Perfectly Chocolate Cake, with a chocolate ganache filling, and the icing is my Coconut Buttercream Frosting recipe.
Here’s the official My Little Pony Friendship is Magic website where I got much of my inspiration and design ideas for the cake!
